Newly confirmed Anambra State Commissioner for Transport,
Hon Edward Ibuzo, has declared that his mission is to build a transport system
that will rank among the best in Nigeria, promising practical reforms that
residents can feel in their everyday movement across the state.
Speaking with journalists shortly after his confirmation at
the Anambra State House of Assembly Complex in Awka on Tuesday, the former
lawmaker said his focus would not be on speeches and promises alone, but on
visible action capable of improving transportation for Ndi Anambra.
The two-time member of the Anambra State House of Assembly,
popularly known as “Liver to Deliver,” said he sees his new appointment as both
a privilege and a responsibility to serve the people better.
According to him, efficient transportation remains one of
the strongest foundations for economic growth, security and easier daily
living.
“We have a responsibility to make sure Ndi Anambra enjoy one
of the best transport systems in Nigeria,” he said. “This is not about
motivational speaking. It is about practical work and real solutions.”
Ibuzo explained that his ministry would pay close attention
to both urban and rural transportation challenges, ensuring that residents can
move more safely and comfortably across different parts of the state.
He assured that his office would remain accessible to both
residents and the media, stressing that openness and public engagement would be
part of his working style.
“I have been in the system for years, so I understand the expectations,”
he said. “We are here to work and deliver results that people can see.”
The commissioner also expressed gratitude to Governor
Chukwuma Soludo for giving him the opportunity to serve in the administration,
describing the appointment as a call to greater responsibility.
He noted that gratitude and dedication remain important
values in public service, adding that his commitment is to contribute
meaningfully to the Solution Agenda of the present government.
The atmosphere at the Assembly complex reflected growing
expectations surrounding the newly confirmed commissioners, many of whom are
expected to drive key sectors of the Soludo administration.
During the plenary session, Speaker of the House, Rt Hon
Somtochukwu Udeze, charged the commissioners to see their appointments as
opportunities to improve the lives of ordinary people across the state.
The Speaker urged them to align fully with the government’s
development vision by introducing policies and programmes capable of
strengthening infrastructure and improving human development.
He reminded the commissioners that residents expect visible
performance and practical governance from every ministry under the current
administration.
While congratulating the newly confirmed officials, Udeze
encouraged them to work closely with Governor Soludo in repositioning their
ministries for greater impact.
He stressed that the administration’s wider goal remains the
transformation of Anambra through people-focused governance, improved
infrastructure and sustainable development.
For many observers at the Assembly, Ibuzo’s remarks
signalled an intention to bring energy, accessibility and hands-on leadership
into the transport sector at a time when expectations for improved movement,
traffic management and public transportation remain high across the state.
With his confirmation now completed, attention is expected
to shift quickly toward how the new commissioner translates his promises into
visible changes on Anambra roads and transport networks.
