Amucheazi Promises Stronger Reforms, More Training for Lands Ministry Staff

The Commissioner for Lands, Prof. Offornze Dike Amucheazi (SAN) has reaffirmed the Anambra State Government’s commitment to building a land
administration system that is transparent, efficient and attractive to
investors, as the state steps up reforms aimed at modernising land management
processes.
Speaking during a training programme for staff of the
Ministry of Lands in Awka, Prof. Amucheazi said the administration of Governor
Chukwuma Soludo is determined to create a system where individuals and
businesses can confidently invest without fears linked to land ownership and
documentation.
According to him, an effective land administration system is
vital to economic growth and sustainable development. He noted that the
government is focused on ensuring that land-related services become faster,
more reliable and more accessible to the public through continuous reforms and
capacity building.
The commissioner revealed that additional training
programmes are already being planned for ministry staff as part of efforts to
strengthen professionalism and improve service delivery. He also assured
workers that dedication, excellence and hard work would continue to be
recognised and rewarded.
The training, held at the Anambra Country Club in Awka,
brought together staff of the Ministry of Lands and key stakeholders to explore
ways of improving land administration across the state.
Earlier, the Head of Service, Barr. Ngozi Iwouno, said land
administration remains one of the most important pillars of development in any
society. She explained that how land is managed often determines the pace of
economic growth, urban development, infrastructure expansion and investment
opportunities.
She noted that the Soludo administration is pursuing reforms
designed to make land processes more transparent, accountable and
technology-driven. According to her, the goal is not only to improve government
services but also to make doing business easier for residents and investors.
Barr. Iwouno stressed that the credibility of any land
administration system depends largely on the integrity and efficiency of the
institutions responsible for managing it. She therefore urged ministry staff to
remain committed to ethical conduct, accountability and professionalism in
their daily responsibilities.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and
Urban Development, Hon. Chijioke Ojukwu, reminded participants that they hold a
position of trust on behalf of the people of Anambra State. He encouraged them
to always follow laid-down procedures and ensure fairness in the discharge of
their duties.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands, Mrs.
Nkeiru Mokwe, said the training was organised to equip staff with fresh
knowledge and practical skills that would help sustain the progress already
recorded in the ministry.
A major highlight of the event was a presentation by guest
speaker, Mr. Praise Fowowe, who spoke on the theme, “Institutionalising
Excellence in Land Administration: Building a Culture of Commitment, Ethics and
Proactive Service.”
In his presentation, Fowowe described land administration as
a critical sector that touches almost every aspect of society, including
investment, public safety, family stability, inheritance rights, economic
growth and social harmony.
He urged participants to uphold integrity at all times and
avoid practices that undermine public confidence. He warned against negligence,
unnecessary delays, abuse of office and acts capable of frustrating government
efforts, stressing that accountability and proactive service remain essential
to building a modern and trusted land administration system.
The training formed part of the state's wider effort to
strengthen institutions, improve public service delivery and position Anambra
as a destination where investment and development can thrive.
