The Nnewi Solution Team has insisted that the position of
HRH Igwe Dr. K.O.N. Orizu III on the Nnewi North Local Government Area election
is sacrosanct.
Speaking at a well-attended meeting on Sunday, the convener
of the group, Chief Gabriel Chukwuma, said there is no going back on securing
justice for the Nnewichi community, whose turn it is to produce the next LGA
chairman.
The President of Gabros Group noted that the commitment shown
by members who defied a heavy downpour to attend the meeting demonstrated their
passion for the betterment of the industrial town rather than any personal
interest.
Chief Chukwuma stated that the Nnewi Solution Team is not
out to fight anyone, stressing that its members are well-meaning individuals
who desire only the best for Anaedo.
The convener further disclosed that he had discussed the
issue of the LGA polls and other matters with Governor Charles Soludo,
expressing optimism that there would soon be light at the end of the tunnel.
He described it as ironic that fewer than 30 individuals who
have allegedly held Nnewi by the jugular are now labeling the Nnewi Solution
Team as an opposition group, adding that the truth would soon become evident.
“On August 23, the few cabals will realize, albeit
belatedly, that they are merely floating and indeed constitute a minority in
Nnewi,” he asserted.
Chief Chukwuma pointed out that most members of the group
are not seeking elective positions but are individuals driven by a passion for
justice and the welfare of the industrial town.
The Gabros Group President declared emphatically that if the
status quo remains unchanged until August 23, then the All Progressives Grand
Alliance (APGA) should not expect votes from Nnewi.
“No freeborn son or daughter of Nnewi will wish away Igwe
K.O.N. Orizu’s position on this matter. As individuals and as a group, we have
taken it upon ourselves to ensure that the right thing is done,” Chief Chukwuma
insisted.
The member representing Nnewi North LGA in the Anambra State
House of Assembly, Hon. Augustine Ike, revealed in his speech that the majority
of people in the industrial town are solidly behind the group.
Hon. Ike told the mammoth crowd that despite the numerical
strength of the Nnewi Solution Team, many more people are still expressing
interest in joining the movement.
He expressed concern that some individuals who are not
authorized to write official letters on behalf of the Nnewi community have
continued to do so, specifically referring to the Chairman of the Nsuko-Ora
Nnewi Board of Trustees, whom he accused of writing various letters on behalf
of the people of Nnewi without a proper mandate.
Prof. Obi Nwosu, Chief Eugene Okonkwo, Hon. Goddy Uzochukwu, Rev. Dr. Ephraim Epunam, and Hon. Chukwudi Nwosu also made presentations at the event, which was moderated by former Anambra State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Chief Emma Nsoedo.
