The All Progressives Congress (APC) has ushered
in a new state executive in Anambra, with its incoming leaders declaring that
rebuilding party unity and expanding grassroots support will be at the heart of
preparations for the 2027 general election.
The new State Chairman,
Hon. Ifeanyi Osegbo, said the party had entered a new phase and would work
tirelessly to transform itself into a formidable political force across the state.
He expressed confidence that the APC could record victories in future elections
if members remained united behind a common purpose.
Speaking after his
inauguration, Osegbo said his administration would be open and inclusive,
assuring members that everyone would have an opportunity to contribute to the
party's growth. He stressed that lasting political success could only be
achieved when every member felt valued and involved.
He also
outlined plans to strengthen cooperation with the APC National Working
Committee, saying a closer working relationship with the national leadership
would help consolidate the party's structure in Anambra. According to him,
grassroots mobilisation would receive greater attention, with ward and local
leaders expected to build stronger connections with members in their
communities.
As part
of his appeal for reconciliation, Osegbo called on members of the APC group
associated with Senator Emmanuel Anosike to set aside their grievances and
support efforts to move the party forward. He said internal unity would be
critical if the APC hoped to compete effectively in the next general election.
The
chairman added that his leadership would work towards delivering victory for
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates seeking elective offices in
Anambra in 2027, including those contesting seats in the State House of
Assembly.
The
inauguration ceremony took place on Sunday at the party's state secretariat
opposite the Anambra State Government House in Awka. It marked the formal commencement
of duties for the new executive team.
Among
those sworn in were Hon. Ifeanyi Osegbo as State Chairman, Engr. Chidi Orji as
State Secretary, Hon. Arinze Awogu as State Treasurer and Hon. Tony Ezekwelu as
State Public Secretary, alongside other executive members.
Osegbo
also acknowledged the contributions of the immediate past State Chairman, Chief
Basil Ejidike, commending him for maintaining the party's structure during his
time in office. He appealed to members across the state to give the new leadership
their full cooperation.
In
separate remarks, State Secretary Engr. Chidi Orji and State Treasurer Hon.
Arinze Awogu described Osegbo as a dependable party stalwart whose loyalty
dates back to the era of the Action Congress (AC), the Action Congress of
Nigeria (ACN) and now the APC. They said his experience and commitment would
strengthen the party's drive towards the 2027 elections.
The event was coordinated by the State Public Secretary,
Hon. Tony Ezekwelu, and also included the inauguration of the APC's 2027
Election Planning and Winning Committee, underscoring the party's determination
to begin its electoral preparations well ahead of time.
