Anambra State LGA election, the paramount traditional ruler of Nnewi in Nnewi
North LGA, HRH Igwe Dr. K.O.N. Orizu III, has expressed optimism that justice
will be done for Nnewichi-Nnewi community, whose turn it is to produce the next
council chairman under the town’s rotational arrangement.
Nnewi is composed of four communities: Otolo-Nnewi, Uruagu-Nnewi, Umudim-Nnewi
and Nnewichi-Nnewi.
Igwe Orizu expressed the optimism on Sunday when he hosted the Convener of the
Nnewi Solution Team, Chief Gabriel Chukwuma, and his delegation in his palace.
The 100-year-old highly revered monarch said the issue of ensuring justice for
Nnewichi-Nnewi would be positively concluded before the end of the week.
Speaking at the monthly meeting of the group at his residence on Sunday
evening, the Convener of the Nnewi Solution Team and President of Gabros Group,
Chief Gabriel Chukwuma, reinforced Igwe Orizu’s declaration.
He said Nnewi indigenes abroad are in full support of the movement to liberate
the industrial town from the stranglehold of a few cabals who do not mean well
for the community.
“I am from Umudim-Nnewi and I am passionately committed to getting justice for
Nnewichi community because an injustice to one is an injustice to all. An
individual once claimed that Nnewichi-Nnewi has no people to speak for them.
Today, I am speaking for Nnewichi-Nnewi with a strong voice,” he said.
“I am excited that Igwe Dr. K.O.N. Orizu is not backing down on his declaration
that it is the turn of Nnewichi-Nnewi to produce the next Local Government
Chairman for Nnewi North LGA. The assurance from our royal father that this
matter will end on a glorious note for us before the end of the week is good
news to all of us in this struggle.
“It is laughable that some of the cabals who are hell-bent on denying
Nnewichi-Nnewi their turn to produce the next LGA chairman are also calling to
congratulate me and members of the Nnewi Solution Team for the path of justice
we have chosen to take.
“My resolution is simple: my colleagues and I in the Nnewi Solution Team must
lead our town to the promised land of justice, equity and fairness. No
individual can be bigger than the majority of Nnewi people who have resolved to
work for the betterment of their town,” Chief Chukwuma stressed.
The member representing Nnewi North LGA in the Anambra State House of Assembly,
Hon. Augustine Ike, former Chairman of Nsuko-Ora Nnewi, Major Ben Ngonadi
(Rtd), and other stakeholders also addressed the meeting.
