The
killing of former All Progressives Congress, APC, Zonal Women Leader in Bauchi
South, Mrs Jamima J. Dutse, has raised fresh concerns over security in Bauchi
State.
Dutse
was reportedly attacked at her residence by unknown assailants, who fled the
area after the incident. The circumstances surrounding the attack and motive
for the killing remain unclear.
The
Take-It-Back, TIB, Movement, Bauchi State chapter, condemned the killing,
describing it as a “senseless” act of violence and an attack on the peace and
security of the state.
In
a statement issued on Sunday, the movement’s Bauchi State Coordinator, Nazif
Bashi, expressed condolences to Dutse’s family, friends and associates
following her death and called for an urgent investigation.
The
group urged the Bauchi State Police Command, Department of State Services, DSS,
and other relevant security agencies to establish what happened and identify
those responsible for the killing.
TIB
also called for the immediate arrest of anyone found to have been involved in
the attack, saying those responsible must be brought before the courts and
prosecuted under the law.
Beyond
the investigation, the movement demanded transparent communication from
security agencies, including regular updates for Dutse’s family and the wider
public on developments and progress in the case.
“Justice
must not only be done; it must be seen to be done,” the group said, stressing
that those responsible for Dutse’s murder should face the full wrath of the
law.
TIB
also called on the Bauchi State Government and security authorities to
strengthen surveillance, security measures and intelligence gathering across
Bauchi metropolis and neighbouring local government areas to prevent further
attacks.
The
group said a decisive response was needed not only to pursue justice for Dutse
but also to reassure residents that their safety remained a priority for the
state authorities.
