Carter Efe has publicly complained
that he is yet to receive the ₦50
million prize promised after his victory in a recent celebrity boxing match
against Portable.
The social media
personality, who defeated Portable in the widely discussed fight held on Friday,
said organisers have delayed payment despite announcing a ₦50 million reward for the
winner.
Speaking in a video
shared online, Carter Efe expressed frustration over the situation, insisting
he endured a physically demanding fight and expected the money to be paid
without delay.
“Dem never give me my
money oo. I never see N50 million ooo. I nearly die for that fight, I never see
the N50 million. Make dem pay me the N50 oo,” he said in the viral clip.
The
controversy comes shortly after Portable questioned the outcome of the match.
Following his defeat, the singer alleged that the fight may have been
manipulated in favour of Carter Efe. According to Portable, the judges’
decision was allegedly influenced to avoid paying out massive betting stakes
reportedly placed on him by fans.
The
singer claimed large sums of money had been wagered on his victory, although no
evidence has been publicly provided to support the allegation.
The
dispute has since sparked widespread reactions online, with fans debating both
the credibility of the fight and the handling of the prize money.
Celebrity
boxing events have grown increasingly popular in Nigeria in recent years,
blending entertainment, music and sport to attract huge online audiences.
However, the latest controversy has again raised concerns about transparency,
financial accountability and proper regulation within the fast-growing trend.
Critics
argue that while the events generate attention and social media engagement,
organisers must ensure prize agreements are honoured and disputes handled
professionally to maintain public trust.
For
now, Carter Efe insists he is only demanding what was publicly promised to him
after the fight.
The organisers of the boxing event are yet to release an
official statement regarding the delayed payment or the allegations raised by
both fighters.
