Marriage
has been described as a sacred union of two individuals coming together in
love, purpose, and responsibility, as family and guests gathered in Awka,
Anambra State, for a wedding ceremony that highlighted the values of faith and
commitment.
The ceremony, held at New Life Winners Church,
headquarters in Ifite Awka, brought together Onyedika Onwudiwe and former Miss
Somtochukwu Abazu as they were joined in holy matrimony.
Speaking at the event, Prince Neville Uchendu, a
chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and uncle to the groom,
described marriage as a lifelong journey built on trust, patience, and shared
growth.
He prayed for the couple, asking God to bless
their union with love, peace, and good health. He also expressed hope that the
marriage would be fruitful, with children who would grow in wisdom and bring
honour and joy to the family.
“Marriage is a sacred institution that requires
understanding, patience, and divine guidance,” he said, adding that couples
must remain committed to building a home rooted in love and mutual respect.
Earlier in his homily, the officiating minister,
Bishop (Dr) Peter Godfrey Ezeike, Founder of New Life Winners Church, said
marriage is ordained by God as a holy covenant between husband and wife.
He explained that both partners are called to fulfil a shared divine purpose, urging the couple to remain guided by biblical principles.
According to him, mutual understanding, faith, and commitment are essential for a lasting and successful marriage.
Bishop Ezeike also prayed for the couple, asking God to establish their home on a strong spiritual foundation and grant them enduring happiness.
The groom, Onyi Onwudiwe, expressed joy and gratitude, describing his bride as the fulfilment of his heart’s desire. He said he was thankful to God for blessing him with what he called a priceless gift, and pledged to build a loving and purposeful home.
In her remarks, the bride, Somtochukwu, said she felt deeply happy and blessed. She described her husband as the best partner she could ever ask for, adding that their union marked the beginning of a life filled with love, fulfilment, and lasting happiness.
The ceremony was attended by family members, friends, and well-wishers who celebrated with the couple as they began their new life together.
