Army Arrests Wanted Soldier Over Alleged Supply Of Military Uniforms To Terrorists

 By Stephen Okeke

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a Nigerian Army soldier declared wanted over allegations that he supplied military uniforms and other military items to terrorist groups operating in Nigeria's North-East, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama.

Makama, writing on X, said the suspect was identified as Private Mohammed Yusuf of the Nigerian Army Ordnance Training Facility (NAOTF), Lagos. He said troops from the 7 Provost Group, led by the Acting Commander, arrested the soldier at about 6:30pm on 25 July 2026.

According to Makama, investigations indicate that Yusuf left his unit without permission before he was declared wanted. He allegedly travelled to Maiduguri on 7 July, where he reportedly remained in hiding while security agencies tracked his movements.

The security analyst said investigators also found that the suspect was allegedly given shelter at Gomari Costain in Jere Local Government Area of Borno State by Private Baba Kamal Sale of the Corps of Intelligence, Dikwa. The claim forms part of the ongoing investigation and has not been independently verified.

Makama said troops acted on intelligence reports by placing the suspect under round-the-clock surveillance before arresting him at Jidari Bus Stop. He alleged that Yusuf was intercepted while attempting to cross into neighbouring Cameroon.

The suspect is now being held by the 7 Provost Group as investigators examine the allegations and determine whether other people were involved. Makama described the arrest as a major step in efforts to expose insider networks suspected of assisting terrorist groups, adding that investigations are continuing to establish the full facts surrounding the case and identify any additional suspects.
