Former
France striker Thierry Henry says Spain were the better team in their 2-0
victory over France in the 2026 World Cup semi-final, describing the European
champions as deserving finalists.
Spain
secured their place in the final on Tuesday after Mikel Oyarzabal opened the
scoring before Pedro Porro added a second goal to seal the win.
Speaking
on Fox Sports after the match, Henry said France had fallen well below the
required standard and struggled to match Spain throughout the contest.
"Too
little from France at the end of the day," he said. "Spain controlled
the game on and off the ball."
Henry
said Spain's display showed why they are the reigning European champions and
why they have reached the World Cup final.
"They
showed why they are European champions. They are showing why they are going
into the final," he said.
The
former Arsenal and Barcelona forward added that there was little room for
debate over the result, saying Spain had been "far superior" on the
night.
"There
is nothing to say about it. Spain, congratulations. You deserve to go to the
final," Henry said.
Spain's
victory ended France's hopes of reaching the World Cup final, with Henry
acknowledging that the better side progressed.
