Anambra First Lady Gets NLC Award For Social Impact

By Ify Okoli

Dr Nonye Soludo, First Lady of Anambra State, and the founder of Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, has been selected for the National Leadership Conference (NLC) 2026 Award for her work in social impact and community development across the state.

She will receive the Excellence in Social Impact Leadership award, which recognises individuals whose leadership and community initiatives are judged to have contributed to improving people's lives and local communities.

The selection was communicated to Dr Soludo in an official letter from the conference organisers, confirming her as one of the recipients of the 2026 NLC Award.

Her recognition is linked to her work through the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, which focuses on preventive healthcare, nutrition, menstrual hygiene, maternal and child wellbeing, environmental hygiene and healthier lifestyles.

Among the initiative's activities are the distribution of menstrual hygiene products to schoolgirls, nutrition interventions for children, health screenings and public awareness campaigns aimed at promoting healthier living.

Its programmes have also included community-based activities across Anambra's 21 local government areas, with women, children and school-age girls among the key groups reached through its interventions.

The latest honour comes shortly after Dr Soludo received the 2026 BudgIT Active Citizens Award for Health Activism in recognition of her preventive healthcare and community wellness advocacy.

That award was presented at the Active Citizens Awards in Lagos on July 25, where BudgIT and Civic Hive recognised individuals and organisations for contributions to civic engagement, accountability and community development.

The BudgIT recognition specifically highlighted her Healthy Living initiative, including health education, maternal and child health advocacy, nutrition programmes, environmental sanitation and community fitness activities.

Dr Soludo dedicated that award to healthcare workers, volunteers, community leaders, partners and residents who have supported efforts to promote healthier communities across Anambra.

The NLC organisers are expected to formally present the latest award at the National Leadership Conference 2026, where recipients will be recognised for their contributions to leadership and wider societal development.

The announcement was contained in a statement signed and issued to journalists in Awka on Thursday by Daniel Ezeigwe, Dr Soludo's media aide.

The new recognition places further attention on the Healthy Living initiative and its emphasis on preventive healthcare, community participation and public awareness rather than treatment alone.
