Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will visit
Anambra State on Thursday to launch the National Community Food Bank Programme
for the South-East.
In a statement, Anambra's Commissioner for Information and
Value Reformation, Law Mefor, said the visit would also include the
commissioning of an ICT Centre at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko.
The centre is designed to give students practical digital
skills in software development, data analysis, digital marketing and remote
work, while helping to expand access to opportunities in the digital economy.
The food bank programme will be launched at the Old
Government House in Amawbia and Ekwueme Square.
It will provide food supplies and nutrition education for
vulnerable groups, including widows, older people, people with disabilities,
nursing mothers and children.
The initiative is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's
Renewed Hope Agenda, which the federal government says is aimed at
strengthening social support and promoting inclusive development.
The Anambra government said the First Lady's visit would
further strengthen cooperation between the federal and state governments.
It said the programmes would help ensure that vulnerable
communities benefit from government interventions aimed at improving living
conditions.
Anambra, known as the "Light of the Nation",
welcomed Senator Tinubu and described her visit as an important moment for the
South-East.
The state government said it appreciated the federal
government's partnership, particularly in areas including food security,
digital skills and support for vulnerable people.
Mr Mefor said the state government and its people looked
forward to welcoming the First Lady and supporting the successful launch of the
programme.
