Odira Ezeh welcomes decision, says Anambra pilgrims can begin preparations.
The Anambra State Pilgrims Office, under the Office of the
Deputy Governor, led by Hon. Barr. Odira Ezeh, the Senior Special Assistant to
Governor Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo on Pilgrimages, has exciting news for
Christians in Anambra State: the ban on pilgrimages to the Holy Land has
officially been lifted. This uplifting announcement came from the Executive
Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rt. Rev'd (Prof.)
Adegbite Stephen Tunde Victor, PhD, GPJ, who is currently in Jerusalem.
Speaking from Jerusalem on Saturday, August 1, 2026, Rt. Rev'd (Prof.) Adegbite expressed heartfelt
gratitude to God for the peace and safety in the Holy Land. After spending
three days closely monitoring the security situation, he confidently assured
everyone that Jerusalem is peaceful and safe for Christian pilgrims. As a
result, he announced that the pilgrimage ban on Nigerian pilgrims has been
lifted with immediate effect. However, he noted that, for security reasons, all
Nigerian pilgrims will need to enter Israel through Ben Gurion Airport for now,
while travel through Jordan remains temporarily suspended due to ongoing
security concerns.
In response to this great news, Hon. Barr. Odira Ezeh shared
his joy, emphasizing that the announcement brings hope to Christians in Anambra
State and across Nigeria who have been eagerly waiting for the opportunity to
make their pilgrimage to the Holy Land. He reassured everyone that the safety
and well-being of all Nigerian pilgrims are the Commission's top priority and
encouraged prospective pilgrims to closely follow the travel guidelines issued
by the NCPC.
The Senior Special Assistant also reassured the Christian
community that the Anambra State Pilgrims Office is already gearing up for the
upcoming pilgrimage. He emphasized the steadfast support of Governor Prof.
Chukwuma Charles Soludo's administration, assuring that pilgrims from Anambra
State will enjoy a smooth, safe, and spiritually enriching journey to the Holy
Land under well-organized arrangements.
Hon. Odira Ezeh encouraged Christians to seize this
opportunity to embark on the sacred pilgrimage, highlighting that Jerusalem is
a place of profound spiritual significance where believers can deepen their
faith and strengthen their relationship with God.
He joined Rt. Rev'd (Prof.) Adegbite Stephen Tunde Victor in
praying for lasting peace in both Jerusalem and Nigeria, while also seeking
God's guidance for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Chukwuma Charles
Soludo, and all the nation's leaders. He expressed confidence that every
pilgrim from Anambra State would return home safely, filled with powerful
testimonies, renewed faith, and divine blessings.
